Default Gatorade 5th gen ou team (copy from post on smogon)

Welcome to Gaterade an ou team bent on prooving SD feraligatrs merits in ou as a real mid to late game threat.

The team has been reset from prievous attempts
[HIDE=Staring out]
Naturally feraligatr is the first on the list. Just as naturally he needs his little green pal from johto to provide eternal rain to boost his stab aqua jet, in order to net many 2ko's and ohko's, it would not otherwise. The following has been taken from Zarators skeleton anlysis of gatr to demonstrate his power and supprising bulkyness
Offensive calculations

Defensive calculations (including all the common attacks that bring Feraligatr close or into Torrent range):

Choice Band 252 Atk Adamant Scizor's U-turn: 50.53% - 59.63%
Scarf Modest 252 SpA Rotom-W's Volt Switch: 67.91% - 80.21%
252 Atk Adamant Haxorus's Outrage: 63.37% - 74.60%

0 Atk Ferrothorn's Power Whip: 65.78% - 77.54%
252 SpA Timid Life Orb Starmie's Thunderbolt: 70.59% - 83.42%
Scarf Jolly 252 Atk Terrakion's Close Combat: 57.22% - 67.65%
[HIDE=dawn of the third mon]
Choice band scizor sprung to mind, with it's ability to check and weaken key threats, such as tyranitar, latios and pals. Weakinig many pokemon for a potential aqua jet sweep, many of the damage calcs above show how a little bit of a kick from even a ressited bullet punch or u-turn with SR may be able to turn many 2ko's into ohko's and aid's gatr's sweep pre-torrent boost. [/HIDE]
[HIDE= the 4th mon]
Jolteon sprung to mind as a fast, powerful rain sweeper, that unlike rotom-W is not limitted in power or move choice by having to use a choice scarf in order to outspeed Addamant gyarados and dragonite in the rain and can also abuse the rain with stab thunder and punish threats to gatr and poli such as scarf rotom by potentially locking them into a choice electric attack, while further aiding gatr with his speedy volt switch. [/HIDE]
[HIDE= 5th mon added]
I thought about adding ferrothorn to set up hazards for gatr and pals to nets some ko's but the lack of a real fighting ressist and creating a an unwanted weakness to fighting types, celebi sprang to mind as a bulky wall that can potentialy support the team better than ferro, providing solid ressitances to grass, electric and water, amongst others [/HIDE]

[HIDE=the 6th mon]
the 6th mon is where thing's start to go a little pear shaped, gatr needs a spinner and most carry disadvantages to the team, starmie generates unwated weakness to pursuit and bug type moves in addition to electric and grass, while tentacruel ground and psychic, fortress is potentially dead wieght for the team. For the time being tentacruel fills the role for further testing and discussion [/HIDE]

[HIDE=introduction of lando calrissian]
Tena or jolteon had to go, the lack of a good ground resists and adding another weakness to the most common attacking move in the game Earthquake was never going to help, on New's advise choice lando was added to the team and checks numerous threats such as dd mence and nite with finesse and acts as a scout for the team, his weaknesses are pretty much covered by other team members and my fears of needing a rappid spinner were paranoia more than anything. In addition on his advise to combat the bachch of an onion that is breloom, celebi was given psychic over recover and gains the ability to combat fighting types such as breloom, physical virzion and conkledurr better at the cost of a recover move. [/HIDE]

[HIDE=Jirachi's return and improvements to the onion]
jolteon had to go at some point, he was nice and all but a better option in Jirachi presented it's self as pointed out by most wanted. Jirachi can easy take advantage of powerful accurate paralytic thunders being blasted out right off the bat, crippling speedy sweepers and further allowing jirachi and getr to ste up for a sweep, now complementing the team nicely jirachi enjoys the support his teams mates like fellow pixe celebi now offensive celebi as suggested by mostwanted, while giving them support from paralysis and wish support as to reduce the burned of spikes and toxic spikes that may be set up on the field. [/HIDE]

The team has been remade many a time than just the above mentioned and unfortunately each time it's presented it's own unique problem with the 6th pokemon unable to glue the team together the way I would like or what is required, allways that little but glaring issue that's holding it back. Right now I have the added stress of 3 Veterinary essay's comming up, so any help with the team is much apprechiated, because it's gonna bug me until it's just right X.D

252hp 252 defense 6 special defence
Ice beam
Perish Song

From begining's as one of the most outclassed history to creating the biggest metagame shift in history, is no small feat. In a single ability politoad changed the game for ever. Sadly this little toad exists this team for one reason and one reason only and that's to creat infinate rain for gatr and pals to abuse, while putting a stop to other forms of weather. The standard bulky set with perish song is what's been run and it's pretty self explainitory, set up infinate rain and be bulky enough to survie long enough until weather starters ninetales, tyranitar/hippowdon and obamasnow are dead and buried, so infinate rain can last the rest of the match. Perish song can help against mon's trying to set up on toad to avoid any serious repocusions of poli letting something get in a boost such as calm mind lati ect. if the team is weakned to handle them, a fail safe really.

Feraligatr@life orb

252 hp 252 attack 6 defense
Aqua jet
Swords Dance

The mon the team is baised around. After a Swords dance even gatrs counters are going to be in for some hell, coverage moves in Superpower and crunch allows feraligatr to swiftly blow appart would be counters to bit's such as jellificent and ferrothorn clean out of the sky, even heavy duty defensive threats are flat out koed or 2ko after a Sd and Sr from gatrs stab aqua jet or SP/crunch, more often or not the unexpected sheer force of ferligatr allows gatr to take a bite out of the oposition, it's bulky enough to take a few hit's and often this enough to enter the torrent range and fire off some seriously strong priority attack in aqua jets calcs by zaratos in the first box above demonstrate how much damage gatr can inflict on it's opponent, diffrentiating it's self from gyarados and Azumaril as an altogther diffrent offensive force in it's unique combination of SD and aqua jet.

Scizor@choice Band

248 hp 252 attack 8 speed
bullet punch

Scizor's purpose is simple, he acts as a check for powerful sweepers thanks in no small part to priority Bp. Scizor is here to punch holes in the opponents team and dent the opposition to bring them in within feraligtr's ko range as he bring's in the pain with a uturn to the face. Politoad's eternal rain is not wasted in only feraligatr, it helps scizor take weak hp fires from the lati in particular, but ye here is here to cause some hurt and wear down the opponents team in general, while keeping threats such as tyranitar in check., nothing new here.

Jirachi @ Leftovers

Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spd / 4 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Wish

Mostwanted suggested calm mind jirachi inplace of jolteon and now the team is better able to support and recive support from jirachi, it was time for jolteon to go and rachi to rise up and take his place. Rachi serves as this teams new answer to stall, which was prievously mentioned to be causing the team issues. Jirachi is capible of setting against a multitude of walls who are too weak to do anything against it eg. blissey chansey. Wish allows jirachi to heal teams in particular scizor and it's self and can allow for healing against the residual damage effects of spikes and SR in the absence of a rappid spinner. Rachi is well supported by polited's eternal rain firing off accurate thunders with a 60% of paralysing anything not imune to electric attacks for a free chance to set up or allow slower partner scizor ro U-turn or pursuit the likes of lati or any other seedy threats. Alll in all rachi find's it's self firmly as dangerous threat and a great team player at the same time and has finnaly become a welcomed edition to the team it was meant to be.

Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SAtk / 216 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Leaf Storm
- Psychic
- U-turn

Hello again little onion, haha this little guy is a recent edition to the team as a whole and proved to be rather effective over all, ressitances to electric, water and grass is allways welcomed and ferligatr is not a big fan of the sea slug gastrodon and celebi is just the mon for the job at taking him out, while cpible of preforming numerous roles. Celebi just loves to spread paralysis to speedy threats and finds plenty of opertunity to set up SR. His bug weakness is a pain as a u turning landerous or scizor or anything for that matter is something best avoided, but he works well supporting other mons in the team weak to certain threats celebi takles with ease or simply is bulky enough to take a hit and cripple opposing threats for the rest of the game so gatr and pals are free to sweep. Tenta is the current rappid spinner and has a nice synergy with ceelbi for stalling with T-spikes and celebi paralysising the rest. Mostwanted suggestion for an offensive celebi really appealed to me and so it has found it's way onto the team, the little onion now packs a punch, provide some good resistances for the team and set up Sr with relative ease, while it's other team mates enjoy the threats in gastrodon, conkeldurr and pals celebi can take out with relative ease, while they in turn take advantage of celebi's common switch in's giving them a free turn of set up

Lando@choice scarf

252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Stone edge
Hp ice

On the advise from new world choice scarf landerous became a new member of the team over the unwanted tentacruel. Landerous of course is a wonderful addition to the team, scout, revenge killer and check for top threats such as the dding dragons and bulky vulcanora who is flat out koed by stone edge. Landerous provides an extra glue for the team what was missing in the absence of scarf rotom and overall dose a better job in general at keeping potential threats in line, wearing thing's down for gatrs sweep later in the game.

The future

Jirachi stands out as a prime canidate to replace something and that something is jolteon or celebi, the issue with replacing jolteon is the loss of a solid electric ressit and a speed freak to a lesser extent. Replacing celebi has it's own issues, it would naturally remove another electric ressist and add a new ground weakness making 3 if tentacruel is present on the team, which leave the team open to landerous, althrough gatr has no quarels priortising his back side to death, it's not his function and is best avoided to allow gatr to deal with more important issues at hand and avoid being worn down in general. Jirachi has now finally taken the place of Jolteon for a calm mind set.

Thank you in advance for your help
