Pokemon X and Y: Gyms Speculation

In the trailer, we saw some glimpses of what looked like gyms and I was wondering what everybody thinks about the gym line up for Pokemon X and Y. What types would you like to see? How many gyms?

I think the gym number could increase. Nintendo has been throwing a ton of surprises these past couple of days. xD

Agreed but the number of gyms seems like standard issue kinda thing..like something all places in the pokemon world follow.

I hope there's only 8 gyms. There are a million ways to change up Pokemon in a good way but that's not something that needs to change. xD

I hope there's finally a Dark-gym. There's been no reason not to have one and I'm really surprised they haven't included one yet! I guess they like keeping Dark as an E4 type.

The possibilities are Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Rock, Steel, Fighting, Flying, Psychic, Ghost, Dark, Poison, Dragon, Bug and Ground.

Gen V covered Fire, Water (twice), Grass, Normal, Bug, Electric, Ground, Flying, Ice, Poison and Dragon

It is possible that Gamefreak may follow the Johto route and use they types that weren't covered for the next set of gyms.

Thus that leaves possibilities for:
Psychic
Ghost
Dark (unlikely)
Fighting
Rock
Steel
and possibly a Grass and Fire gym as Water was covered twice in Gen V.

There is certainly a Bug Gym.

Those spider webs/forest swinging...It has to be.


The other is either Fire or Dragon because, uh, pillars of FIRE.



Also, ib4newtype. Unlikely but every new generation brings this. It's a possibility, and you can bet there would be a gym (probably number 1 or 8) featuring it.

I highly doubt any new types. Sadly, they haven't added any new types since Gen II. :(

I think it'd be cool to have more then eight gyms. xD

I say until you cover the type combinations of all 17 you currently have, you should put a hold on making any more.

Combo gyms would be cool !
Maybe a fighting/electric gym pokemon with a new fighting/electric pokemon.

Maybe they should just have 17 gyms and make it so you only have to beat 8 and the levels would scale. It would add good replay value and the game would be a bit more customisable as everyone would have different badges!

That being said, Johto brought Steel and Dark. ...And we only got a Steel gym. So that's an example of it sort of breaking the rule I stated, and sort of not.

There was a bug type gym in gen 5, what makes you think another one will appear in gen 6 ?
