Pokemon X and Y: Story Speculation?

What do you think will be the Story behind this set of games? X and Y, what do they stand for? Tell us what you think about the story in this thread. I will try and collect most of the ideas and post them on the front page.

It's honestly really hard for me to come up with anything!

You see in screenshots what looks like the male player rollerblading away from the Eiffel Tower. xD It's just so different! That's what I love about it. Instead of keeping the same, they go outside the box.

I expect something even better the B2W2. Of course I also expect a villainous team. But probably not trying to take over the region/world. No, something even bigger than the B/W twist.

From what I saw, the mountainside building that looks like its composed of domes either is going to turn out to be a laboratory or an eccentric living spot.
I have a hunch they could be researching on more intelligent life or weapons of mass destruction

I'm hoping there's gonna be some sort of "end of the world" scenario like with RSE, except more violent and whatnot.
Something that's typically outside of Pokemon.

the bird legandary is the vermillion bird. I wonder how the story will revolve around them using that mythical creature

I've heard people suggest that X & Y are references to the axis of a graph... the flying legendary could be in version Y as Y is the vertical line- upwards- and the foresty deer Princess Mononoke spirit dude thing could be in version X, the horizontal line, like the earth.

Also, on a graph, doesn't Z go downwards? A third version could be Z and feature some sort of legendary that lives beneath the surface of the earth. I DUNNO.

So something faintly mathematical?

Less likely but still a possibilityy the could repesent the the Y and X chromosomes.

I'm 99% sure they won't even have genders. xD

I believe it's a 3D thing. XYZ are the coordinates on a three dimensional grid. X and Y are on the 3DS, which means Z could follow. o:

Well technically Z is out, so that would mean a pokemon that would exist outside the realm of the universe, but we have enough extraterrestrials, don't we?

Or they could include the coolest letter of the English alphabet, "Q"!
All the cool Pokemon have Q's in their names!
Well, maybe not...

All jokes aside, they could mess with us and not even made a 3rd canon.
I mean, this is Nintendo we're talking about.

It appears the game's titles are based on chromosomes after all, or a mixture of both axis and chromosomes.

It's X and Y. It's about the character learning the Alphabet because he's a genius. The evil team doesn't want him learning their plans by reading so they're trying to stop him. So throughout the game every sign is just random gibberish until you beat the game and learn how to read :P

ANYWAYS I honestly have no idea what the story will be. Maybe it has to do with the evil team using DNA strands to combine something into a legendary Pokemon?

This makes sense, since it's on 3DS. And I agree the next version will be Z. xD But as a scientist it would be awesome if it had science themes. That bird legend looks pretty freaky. Wouldn't susprise me if its DNA had been tampered with. o_O
