[SPOILERS] What is Sadder - Pokemon Forum

What is sadder Ash releasing butterfree in bye bye butterfree or ash turning to stone in pokemon the first movie. I cannot make up my mind, and want your thoughts. if you have a sadder moment please enlighten me with this knowledge.

I think Ash turning to stone was more sad. Pikachu cried, as well as the other Pokemon and people. D:

For me, the saddest moment was when James released his Victreebel.
Mind you, I'm a bit of a Team Rocket fangirl :P

They're both so sad D: I guess Bye Bye Butterfree was sadder because Butterfree actually left never to be seen again :( While we all knew Ash would eventually be okay. Though that moment in the first movie always makes me cry as well haha.

I recently watched the Sinnoh episodes and I thought the last episode where Piplup is so upset that Pikachu is leaving was really heartbreaking.

I haven't seen it in ages so I don't remember that well :( Pikachu's Goodbye was always really sad too.

The name Bye Bye Butterfree gets me.
I saw that episode.
The mention of it makes me cry.

I've always thought they ruined Butterfree's goodbye by playing the Pokemon theme song in the middle of it. The first song they played (Tears after the Cloudy Weather) fits much better. The theme song is too upbeat.

But otherwise definitely a very touching goodbye. These days no one really gets upset anymore. Ash is just like "Well goodbye <pokemon>, have fun training. You'll do great!" *sigh*

Haha exactly! I love going back and watching the first season of Pokemon. It's so funny and they would never allow half that stuff anymore - like Misty whacking people with mallets, Brock making 'inappropriate' comments and people actually getting upset. It's sad that Pokemon has gotten even kiddier :( They hardly let James crossdress anymore xD

I do agree they have made Pokemon "kiddier" as you put it. I do miss those hilarious times.
