What Do You Prefer: Dubbed or Sub?
Which do you prefer watching, dubbed or subbed? And why?

Re: What Do You Prefer: Dubbed or Sub?
It depends on the language.
If it is set in my first language, Portuguese, I'd prefer dubbed. But if it's in English, so I just turn the subs on - in English as well, so I can improve my listening.

Dubbed is much much better ^^
Because...
1. I hate subs
2. Brock's voice is so weird on subbed

Dubbed, because I'm to lazy to read the subs, and they go by really fast! They don't really help me understand the situation either!

I honestly loved the dub up until the ownership change where they got new voice actors (RIP Veronica Taylor as Ash ;;), and nowadays I have to say subs, especially given who they chose to voice Iris and Dent/Cilan ;w; (I love Yuki Aoi and Mamoru Miyano, OK.)

Dubbed b/c I only know English and I don't like to read when I'm watching a cartoon.

Re: What Do You Prefer: Dubbed or Sub?
I prefer dubbed material. This is because it makes me appreciate the work the dubbers do to make a show more accessible to others. Besides, it's easier to hear the words. Sub is OK too, since I don't mind reading the text on-screen, but it is the dub that I generally enjoy.
Thanks for reading.

Dubs are usually what I watch first but I go back and find subs later to see how they translated some things.

I prefer the dubbed version. Besides, there are some times where there's a mistranslation (though usually very minor) in the subs.

Re: What Do You Prefer: Dubbed or Sub?
Talking about the pokemon anime specifically:
Up until they got the voice cast change, dubbed definitely. Since the voice cast change, subbed. I know the Japanese voices so it's not weird for me, and I HATE the new voices. I even dislike Cilan and Iris' voices, even if they're new characters... They sound a whole lot better in Japanese.
I don't know whether to vote for dubbed or subbed. If the 4Kids actors weren't under that dumb contract they could have kept voicing the characters, and I would watch the dubbed, but...I just hate the new voices. They're HORRIBLE. As well as the acting not nearly as good as the original cast, the voices are just..wrong. It's not the same characters to me. It actually makes me legitimately sad.

Dubbed, because I've never watched it subbed. I have seen it in Japanese, which is pretty good but without subtitles doesn't make that much sense. xD

I know how you feel. I used to watch Dubbed all the way up till Best Wishes, however as soon as I heard Iris speak, I couldn't stand her.
However, I guess if you keep watching dubbed, the voices might grow on you...

Re: What Do You Prefer: Dubbed or Sub?
I definitely prefer dubbed for the simple reason that I find it annoying trying to read the subtitles while watching the anime.

Yep, and I don't like Cilan's voice either. I love them in Japanese though.
Noooo, I can assure you that I won't. I do NOT like them. I cringe. I can't stand them. I just can't. DDDx Well, I mean the recurring ones that used to have their REAL voices, like Ash and Brock. And Team Rocket too. ;~; Nothing can be done about Meowth's voice, obviously, so his voice would be different now even if there was no contract/cast change.
But no, never. I hated every new voice once the cast was changed. I also dislike Dawn's English voice. I'm not being narrow minded, it's just that...they were the voices I grew up with and loved, and once they changed them, not only did it change the entire character for me, but it was just...wrong. It made me feel really, really frustrated when I watched it in English. DDx Plus, Ash's new voice actor is not a good actor. I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
