Vanity stares at Happiny, who’s just standing there smiling cutely, before shrugging. A target’s a target however, and Happiny is as good a target as any. He sucks in a deep breath, his natural ghostly and fiery nature imbuing it with combustible gasses, and then blows, the air catching flame off of his own body. A torrent of fire sprays out of his mouth and washes over Happiny, who jumps, squealing, to get away from the heat. She manages to leap out and rolls comically trying to put herself out. When she stands, she’s noticeably singed, but is otherwise alright.

Gone is the adorable smile, replaced by a look of fierce determination (which is still adorable, because Happiny kawaii uguu). She runs forward and jumps, no doubt intending to lay the hurt on Vanity, and brings her adorable little hand down hard on his face. Vanity blinks, surprised that he actually felt that, albeit lightly. Happiny then steps quickly backwards, satisfied with her payback.

White Knight looked at the little Happiny. It didn't look particularly drained, but it was a freaking Happiny - come on, how hard would catching it be? At his request, the Ranger handed him a Pokeball. White Knight tossed it at the little pink creature. The Pokeball bounced off the baby Pokemon's hair-curl and into the air, popping open with a snap and releasing a beam of red light that engulfed Happiny. The ball absorbed Happiny and shut, falling onto the road. It wobbled a few times - the Pokeball, not the road! - before giving off a loud ping. White Knight smiled. Happiny was his!

White Knight continued to walk, whistling a merry tune. Suddenly, a Shuppet floated out of an alley, nearly scaring White Knight and Vanity half to death! White Knight regained his composure and looked coolly at the ghost, wondering what he wanted to do.

Chandelure began to carry out its orders, as the flames on its... arms began to change from an indigo hue to a bright blue one. Chandelure spun around, sending the flames flying across the alleyway. Shuppet was taken back and quickly burned by the flames. It looked annoyed, and was surely ready to retaliate.
[Will-O-Wisp: Chandelure, -3 Energy; Shuppet, BRN]

This Shuppet was a tricky and smart one- nobody was going to capture her in her own hood. Too much shame associated with that. Rather, Shuppet's eyes began to glow a bright eerie red before it began to scream. The scream was ear piecering and bone chilling, causing Chandelure and its trainer to feel a bit worried. Suddenly, Chandelure was briefly enveloped by the same red hue as Shuppet quieted down. It looked weaker and tired, but still amused.
[Curse: Chandelure, Cursed @25; Shuppet, -13 Energy, -50 HP]

Chandelure paid no attention to the curse that had been laid on it. Rather, it kept ahead with its preconcieved strategy. His eyes began to glow purple as it moved its... arms above its head. Black and purple aura could be seen leaving the Fire-type's core, feeding into the space between its arms. The orb grew larger as it grew with energy. Once the orb had reached a considerable size, a red eye quickly formed on the front of it. The eye only appeared for a second, letting loose a flash of red energy. The red beam flew across the arena and slammed into Shupppet, dealing considerable damage. The Ghost-type cried out in pain and began to float away, retreating back into the Wild. White Knight, seizing the oppurtunity, threw a Poké Ball at his opponent, but the sphere missed, and Shuppet got away.
[Hex: Chandelure, -3 Energy, -25 HP; Shuppet, -50 HP, Shuppet fainted!]

It was kinda rigged. I didn't realize Hex would KO, but the object WAS to make sure you'd have to deal with Curse.

You duck into a nearby building to avoid being seen and attacked by the Pidove, not wanting to waste any time on such insignificant prey. You explore the building for a while, before finding something much more worthy of your attention. A beige-coloured fox, standing upright and holding two shiny metal spoons in his hands looks up at you and shuffles away from the food he was eating. He closes his eyes momentarily and then looks at you piercingly – he knows that you want to capture it, but he’s not going to go down without a fight.

Before you can start attacking him, he closes his eyes and begins to focus his psychic energy, ready for the battle ahead. By doing this, he hopes to increase his offensive and defensive capabilities so that he can perform as well as possible. Whether it will work or not will come later, when your Chandelure gets his own first move sorted.

Vanity draws in shadows from the corners of the poorly-lit room, creating a veil of darkness around his body. The black energy hums as it is forced into a small sphere and thrown violently across the room. Alakazam lifts a spoon as if to try and defend himself, but whatever he was trying was too slow; the attack sends him spinning to the ground, where he hits his head badly. Nevertheless, he is soon back on his feet and ready to continue.

However, he knows he can’t get hit by that too many times: he needs some sort of block. The idea comes into his mind quickly, and he grins at its sheer wickedness. Reaching out with his mind, he breaks into Vanity’s memory and moves quickly through it to find what he needs. It doesn’t take him long to find the memories of the move he needs to stop, and once it’s found it’s not difficult to put up a mental barrier around it. Then the fox is back in his own body, knowing that he’s not going to get caught with that trick for a while.

Meanwhile, Vanity, although sensing that something is wrong, is getting ready her next attack. A chain of white light stretches out from her main candle and attaches itself to Alakazam’s left shoulder. The fox looks at it for a moment and then realises what was going on – just as the pain begins to flare up. The pain that has been afflicting Chandelure for a while begins to ebb away across the rope of energy, where Alakazam feels it and it makes him breathe heavily. A pained look spreads across his face, and he begins to think for the first time about resorting to actual violence.

A blue glow surrounds his spoons and he points them at Vanity: the same blue glow envelops the spectre, making him appear even more ghostly. Then, with a twitch of his spoons, Alakazam throws the Chandelure into the nearest wall. This is enough to make him groan a little, but the fox isn’t finished yet. The ghost is tossed across the room carelessly and then knocked to the floor, where he gets left for a little while before being picked up again and smashed into a table. It is only then that Alakazam releases his hold on the phantom, allowing the blue glow to fade away.

Vanity picks his way out of the collapsed table – his whole body was in pain right now, but he’s unable to retaliate. For some reason, he can’t remember how to perform the move you ordered him to. It is now that the curse with which he has been inflicted decides to strike. A bellow of pain erupts from your pokémon’s lungs, filling the whole room. He has been badly damaged by now, and won’t be able to last much longer unless something it done quickly.
