There are spam bots XD

This is probably illogical, but how about you promote some Mods? I see lots of mods doing an awesome job around the forum. And not to mention, the more active Mod should be promoted. Especially Mods with different time zones. Like Mods that come on at night for America/Day for Aussie or vice versa.

I agree, I don't mean to sound harsh or anything but I was just wanted my voice to be heard.

I know that mods have lives to so how about we promote some?

Because "we" don't do the promoting. If more mods were needed, more mods would exist. The fact is that this problem is much less serious than you're making it out to be. It's one spam bot. Eventually it'll go, and you won't need to worry about it anymore. Promoting people to mods wouldn't be a solution, and it certainly wouldn't solve any spam bot problem.

You just need to wait until people are on, and the spam bots will be banned/have their threads deleted eventually. It's not killing you in the meantime, so I suggest you just be patient. :]

Agree to the Mod above me.
Promoting more Mods may not solve spam bots problems.
We can just ignore the spam. They don't cause any harm to us, except annoying as hell.

But some extreme spam bots are really really insane to post over 10 spam on every section. I've once seen this, and he was posting like crazy on every possible threads. Not making new threads.

Promoting Mods from different country and timezone is a good idea. I think changing the inactive Mods to new one is good, too.

They're not gonna promote people just to deal with the spam bots. That reason simply isn't good enough.

... Sarah told me that before.

I think Moderators should be promoted to G depending not only on their maturity and experience, but also on their time-zones, making it so there is at least one Gmod online at all times.

About activity. Get someone to run advertisements or make something that has never seen anything before on the site. I have repetitively stated that an ad campaign might work, provided someone has the time to make a GIF image and pay an adhosting site to do it.

Lol. I love the fact three of my friends became mods overnight. My response; "Wtf they skipped me? 0o' " Ha ha XD

Being a mod is tough work, though. I don't think people realize that...I was a mod twice, admin once, at other websites. Thankfully they were very slow forums, but this site, while slower, is not the slowest around (especially around WAR!). They have to check every thread they suspect of foul play, have to decide on infractions, and in general have to put up with a lot of crud (like people trying to friend them so they can attempt to use them. Yes, it happens, I'm sure).

Then they become a G-Mod, and then they have to deal with even more.

So, yeah. Give them a break. Some of them even have families I'm sure, and the fact they even come on at all deserves a big pat on the back and a thank you.

Spam bots get deleted very fast, in my time here...So I've no complaints.

Well that's not nice. :c You can't go banging on the mods for "not doing their job" just because they're not constantly online to get rid of a spambot. Lives do exist outside of the internet, believe it or not. Just desensitize yourself from it all, that's about all you can do to ignore them.

Not too much can be done to really get rid of them though, since some features are only accessible through Ryan himself, even though he made a few Co-Admins.

Also yeah, there's only spambots because of the inactivity. It happens. A good way to prevent it is to be active again, and I actually support Voices' idea of doing an ad campaign to help bring in members.

Thaaaaaaanks... I guess. xD

Ahem. As I said. Time-zones could solve this problem easily. We all understand that there are lives outside of the internet, I do not think that is what the OP is complaining about. I think it would just be smart to point out that you cannot have all the Mods in one time-zone (or too close of time-zones), and expect it to be adequate support.

However, I do agree with Graceful_Suicune. It is pretty insane that the OP is complaining about ONE spam post.

I am not insane
Also I really just made this to help develop a better system against the spam bots!

Considering it does not need to be better since it was one spam post, I don't think it needs that much attention. If there were several posts that went unnoticed, I would then give you the a-okay to complain about it, since it is legitimate. But one spampost? Come on?

Well, it wasn't really just one spam bot. You see I am a member of other larger sites and spam bots are gone in less than 30 minutes.
The thing that got to me is it took 4 hours to get it done.

So what if some one comes and starts posting pornography we are pretty much screwed.

I made this in hope that quicker action will be taken on ALl spam bots.

Since most spambots are removed before you even see them, I would be happy with the current results.

Also, if you haven't noticed, there are 33,000 members, but only about 500 of those are completely active. This means that more members need to be active if you want to compare this place to a larger forum.

I roll my eyes when someone leaves because of inactivity though, because apparently they think their absence will change that.

This is actually one of the lowest points of activity in the history of Pe2k.
