Default The "Pikachu" of every generation?

By the Pikachu, I mean the popular Pokemon that usually is cute.

For me, it's this:

Gen. 1: Pikachu (Duuuuuh.)
Gen. 2: Pichu
Gen. 3: Plusle/Minun
Gen. 4: Pachirisu
Gen. 5: Minccino

I made the list quickly, so it's not that good.

Gen. 5: Emolga
Mincinno is pretty cute, but I don't see it as the "Pikachu" of the gen.

The Pikachu of this gen is actually Emolga;
-It's Electric type
-It's a rodent
-It has spots on it's cheeks.

Minccino is just a rodent, it's more applicable to the rattata of this generation.

But yet, what this thread is referring to is the most popular Pokemon of the generation, not the one that looks most like a Pikachu.

I must agree with the OP though, Miniccino is pretty damn cute.

inb4 the flood of people that say Zorua. No, Zorua is more the equivalent of Riolu.

Gen 1: Pikachu
Gen 2: Pichu
Gen 3: Minun / Plusle
Gen 4: Pachirisu
Gen 5: Emolga

And actually, Mincinno is not the regional rodent. Patrat is. Mincinno is more akin to Clefairy and Skitty, being a Normal type that requires a stone to evolve, having Cute Charm and even having an item designed for it that aids fleeing wild Pokemon.

This could make for an interesting article idea....

If we're going down the line of which mascot for each gen rather than actual Pikachu likeness, here's my opinion:

Gen 1 : Pikachu obviously...
Gen 2: Pichu
Gen 3: I can't really place one on Gen 3 because I wasn't aware it existed until a kid in my class gave me Sapphire for free...
Gen 4: Lucario
Gen 5: Zoroark

In Pikachu likeness I agree with everything said so far.

As the OP is saying, what is the most POPULAR (presumably in your opinion) Pokemon. This statement does not pertain to the topic.

Pichu/Plusle/Minun/Pachirisu are by no means the most popular of their generation. Eh.

Anywho:

Gen 1: Mewtwo / Charizard / Pikachu
Gen 2: Not sure.
Gen 3: Not sure.
Gen 4: Lucario or Piplup.
Gen 5: Probably Zoroark, or maybe even Oshawott.

This is what I think.

Gen 3: Plusle/Minun - They appeared in an poster-styled add for Pokemon 3rd Gen with the 2 trainers, for that I think they deserve mascot ship and they are similar to pikachu.
Gen 5: I think in mascotship Victini or Zoroa/Zoroark could both fit in.

I think any of the dragon type pokemon from the generations could contest these, but I don't think Mewtwo counts as it is a legendary, which I think should be classified differently.

The "Pikachu" of the generations is the fan fav or the "Mascot" (Not game mascot)
for me
Gen1:Pikachu,Charmander or Mewtwo ( after the first movie everyone wanted it)
Gen two: Marill( Thanks to Pikablu rumors) Togipei or whatever that egg thing is
Gen3: Mudkip( I heard you like Mudkipz) Jirachi, The lati twins
Gen4:Lucario (I hated that thing)
Gen 5: Scarfy,Victini

I'm gonna do my hardest to NOT include legendaries, because I don't believe them to be worthy of Pikachu popularity. Legendaries are well known based off their rarity.

I'm gonna go with:
  • Gen I: Pikachu
  • Gen II: Marill or Pichu
  • Gen III: Mudkip or Plusle/Minun
  • Gen IV: Piplup or Buizel
  • Gen V: Axew or Victini

Here are my reasons why.
Pikachu is obvious, cause that's what we were basing our cuteness/popularity factor off of.

Marill was one of the first pokemon to be shown from Gen II, this lead to it's rumored nickname "Pikablu". Later Tracy had one in the anime which heightened it's populatrity.
I just said Pichu cause I loved using Pichu in SSBM because it was cute and hurt itself when fighting :3

Mudkip... everyone lieks Mupkipz! I mean seriously, do I need an explanation for this? :P
Plusle/Minun are really cute. There's not much else left in the Gen III list to be honest.
More importantly, I feel Gen III is the biggest let down and most forgettable list of pokemon in the pokemon world. I personally didn't get the games until just before the release of LG/FR....

Piplup is very cute. Dawn's Piplup had nothing going for it bit being cute and helpless all the time.
Ash's Buizel was always trying it's best to be the strongest, no matter what... I guess by saying that, we can throw Gible into the mix too, heck, I find Gible uber-cute!

Axew is currently my favorite cute pokemon in the Gen V
I'm not a big fan of Oshawatt, and upon catching a few glimpses of Iris' Axew in the anime, definitely amazing a big hit in the new episodes.
However as far as much hype goes, Victini is ADORABLE. I don't know much more about Victini other than it was a Liberty Pass giveaway during the BW launch, but definitely a cute and popular pokemon! (Sorry for using a legendary, I didn't know what else to throw up there D:)

I find it interesting seeing all these Pickchu knock offs. I wonder why Game Freak does this?
