Default Altering Cave Pokemon

I read the Bulbapedia entry on Altering Cave and it said you can get these Pokemon through the Mystery Gift at a Nintendo Wonder Spot.
  • Mareep
  • Aipom
  • Pineco
  • Shuckle
  • Teddiursa
  • Houndour
  • Stantler
  • Smergle

However, the page also says:

Quote:
Despite this, no country has ever held an event to make use of this hidden feature.
This leads to the question: if the Nintendo Wonder Spot event never took place, then how does Bulbapedia know that these Pokemon can be found there?

I've read in other threads that something with the e-reader makes the Altering Cave work. However, the Bulbapedia page makes no mention of using the e-reader to change the Pokemon in the Altering Cave, which can lead to the conclusion that the e-reader thing was a false claim.

they could have done some kind of hack or checked the games coding.

They can look at the game's coding, probably. It's how they find out stuff like Base EXP, Base Happiness, etc... The game would have to be coded to allow those Pokemon in, and there would also be something in the coding as a trigger feature.

I think they looked in the coding of the games. I find it odd too that the event never took place.

I wish I could've had some of those guys back in Emerald! That would have been beyond awesome. Bummer they never actually did it
