The POKEMON Cup – Prologue
It had been too long. Too long since Red had picked up his pokeballs for a purpose, since Pikachu had used thunderbolt, and Snorlax had used Hyper Beam, but now, was it time to go back? The commercial flashed across his telly,
“Hello trainers! This is Scott Benson, founder of the Battle Frontier institution. Red closed his eyes in deep thought. He knew what he was going to do. He didn’t like it, but he missed Charizards blast burn to much, and Venasaurs frenzy plant, and not forgetting his Blastoise’ insane Hydro Cannon. He got up from his creaking bed and looked up at his clock, a boring old analogue clock. It used to be a pokeball clock, there used to be posters on his wall. Red closed his eyes again. He still lived with his underpaid mum. She had been sacked at the Pokemart, and was forced to earn a living at some grubby old Casino in Celadon, selling dusty TM’s and caged up Pokemon to the addicted prize-winners. To think Red once got a Porygon from that dump. So while Reds mum did this, all he did himself was lie on his bed all day, watching TV. He used to put the money on the table, when he was the Champion, when he was on top of the world. Then he retired at no less then 17, said he needed to relax. Last time he battled he was thrashed by some kid from Johto on the peak of Mt. Silver. He said he went easy. But all that was about to change, the minute Reds’ mum opened the door he climbed down the stairs and approached her. She looked old, she used to smile, now she just looked bleak.
“Mom” Red said.
“Yes honey” Red could see right through that smile. Sometimes he heard her crying at night, it was like when dad died, but maybe even worse.
“Im coming out of retirement” Red said “Im going to compete in the Pokemon cup”
(Like it? Hope so. Got it all planned out. Ooo, and by the way, this in no way relates to the Anime, so if you wanna see Brock with a Happiny, consider yourself unlucky. It will all come together next few chapters, and its not all about Red once we get going. Thanks, and don’t forget to review!)
