Default The Flame in Charmander's Tail

When the flame of a Charmander's tail blows out it will die?

Does it mean Die, DIE!

or Faint? or something else.

Since that's a depressing way to think of of it, I prefer believing that a Charmander dies in the sense of fainting, but wakes up hours later.

It's never clarified, but I'm assuming that it will DIE die, but ofc you can't have something DIE in a children cartoon, so they just never kill Charmander.
But there are sever occasions in the anime where Charizard dives underwater to do something so foolishly heroic :/

I like to believe that if a charmander's tail is wet by a water type attack it doesn't flicker out due to a special chemical in its body which produces the flame, but being under water too long causes the flame to extinguish, giving the charmander only minutes to live. o: If the flame can be relit, then the charmander will barely escape death, but still survive.

That's only my theory, though. c:

First, it is B.S that they do not allow things to die in children's shows. It happens all the time. And as I recall, the episode when Ash and friends come across the Charmander, it was only seconds away from death.

First, you said first and never made your second point :P
Second, but it doesn't die. When has anything ever died in Pokemon? Never.
I rest my case.

I consider Latios and Lucario's disappearance at the end of movie 5 and 8 death, though they were quite vague.

First Pokemon movie: Ash turns into stone and Misty exclaims, "Ash! No!" (presumably dead until revived)

Pokemon4Ever: Celebi dies as the forest does. (presumably dead until revived)

Pokemon 2000 (Power of One): Lugia dies about 3 times. (presumed dead until revived)

Pokemon 1st Season: Lavender Town, the story and flashback of Team Rocket grunts killing a Marowak.

Pokemon 1st Season (Ghost Tower Episode): Ash dies and turns into a ghost and floats around with Haunter, Gastly, and Gengar.

I can go on, but I never meant to start an argument.

"The flame on its tail indicates Charmander's life force. If it is healthy, the flame burns brightly."

Right from the SoulSilver/HeartGold Poke'dex entry. Previous entries never outrightly state "death", but it's heavily implied in the show that if a Charmander's flame goes out, it will die - because it is a measure of it's health.
I think in Charmander's introduction episode in the first season, it was raining... it could have gotten sick, which was why the flame was getting less stable.
It could have also been symbolic of hope in that episode, since Charmander's beautiful soul of a Trainer had abandoned it.
