Reported earlier by the Japanese voice talent agency, 81Produce, Watabe Takeshi has passed the way at the age of 74. The cause of his death was pneumonia while undergoing treatment for lung cancer.
Watabe played many roles as an anime voice actor including Chessmaster Hex in
Cowboy Bepop, Kaminari in
Doraemon, Gamabunta in
Naruto, and many other roles but to Pokemon anime fans, he was the Mayor in Episode 41: “Wake Up Snorlax” and Professor Jacuzzi/Shakuzii-Hakase in Pokemon Advance Episode 725: “Gulpin it Down”.
Watabe has an extensive career as a Japanese voice actor and was good at what he did. He may have only been heard on the Pokemon anime twice but he had played important roles in both episodes that he was featured. Everybody on the PE2K staff would like to wish their condolences to his family and friends.
