Yep it’s that time again, Graphic Spotlight!
It is the third week of Graphic Spotlight, which is very exciting. This week we had three talented Graphic Artists submit their piece. Thank you to Temporal Snake, Y2kpikachu12 and Doodlebop. Your entries were great!
This week for Graphic Spotlight we have chosen Y2kpikachu12’s entry titled “Sky’s the limit.”
Y2kpikachu12 says that his inspiration to create this piece was that “Shaymin’s the coolest Pokémon in PMD.“ Can’t argue with that!
“I was surprised how well it was received in the BotW competition,” he said, indicating he created the piece for one of the earlier banner of the weeks events.
Resources that he used were Grass brushes, and a Shaymin stock. No links were provided.
Y2kpkachu did a excellent job on this piece. One thing I noticed when looking at the piece was that Shaymin really wasn’t blended into the background; it could fit better with some smudging and blurring. You probably could have brushed over Shaymin some more to create some sort of depth. Something that could easily be changed is the border; the banner is bright so you could have used a lighter border to match the theme of its position in the sky.
Now for some positive stuff! I love the fact that you created a shoot flow of matching colors from Shaymin! I also like that you made the text curve along with some of the brushing and that the text is a lower opacity so it blends more and doesn’t look added on! The gradient maps are great because they add more color depth to it which makes the banner look better altogether! You have improved A LOT looking at your gallery and I hope you get back into making graphics because you have talent!
