According to
Music Japan+, 1,476,442 copies of a McDonald’s-released Pokemon calendar were sold starting Nov. 6, 2009.
That feat now holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
A certificate of this achievement was awarded at a McDonald’s store in Tokyo on Thursday, Nov. 18. Present were the two mascots of McDonald’s and Pokemon, Ronald McDonald and Pikachu respectively.
These 2011 wall calendars featured original illustrations of the Pokemon world and were sold for 300 yen, about $3.33 at the time of release. The calendar beat out its 2006 counterpart, which sold around a million copies.
