OoC: I thought Across The Universe v. Windchaser was next...?

Rocket Executive Vostok

A tall man stood in the sidelines, watching the fight closely, making sure he didn't miss a beat. Beside him was a large Warubiaru with an insane grin on its face, his partner for life.

The battle didn't last long, the ghost girl didn't seem to be at the top of her game. Possibly injured, he assumed. He saw Dr. Harper, the creator of most of these morphs, rush out into the arena and lift Vesper up into his arms and carry her off to what he suspected was her cell.

Warubiaru snarled softly. Vostok simply replied "Next time don't bet on an injured combatant to win..."

The Feraligatr Dennis

They had brought him here, anyways. Why? He didn't know. They still didn't tell him anything about his match-ups. Had they decided to just let him watch? They obviously wouldn't leave there in the cell by himself, for various reasons. Dennis slumped to the ground and sat there, watching the doctor take Vesper away and announcing Marcus as the victor. He knew that Arcanine boy was strong, but then there was the possibly of him only winning because of the ghost girl's injuries.

OOC: Screw transitional posts, again...
The Metang Anthony

Anthony cocked his head. The Female wasn't so strong after all. Perhaps he had overestimated her...

And underestimated the Negotiator. Anthony nodded in acknowledgment towards Marcus as he walked back towards the cage. He might have just gotten lucky, but Anthony didn't believe in luck. Focus your strategy on all of your opponents, not just the Female...

And then the bars to his cage lifted open. "Metang versus Flareon."

Ah, the Enemy. Without waiting, Anthony stretched his limbs and stepped out. He had been watching the fight before, and studying the environment. A fine layer of sand stretched across the battlefield- this would provide good traction and there might be some fine iron particulates mixed in.

Anthony looked around, left eye spinning, but with purpose and fine control. The walls were metal, but too dense to be magnetized easily. The same for the domed framework of the ceiling...Anthony nodded. This was good. This was usable.

He spun around, kicking up a small bit of sand as he said, sing-song, "Oh, Ja-son! It seems you've developed a slight malfunction, and will have to undergo the Rocket Science Emergency Maintenance Procedure! Don't worry, the Rocket Science Emergency Maintenance Procedure is swift, painless, and completely permanent, so you'll never have to do it, again!"

The Rocket Surgeon Dr. James Harper

“Hey, girl, you fought well. You’re doing great, Vesper,” Harper muttered in the unresponsive morph’s ear, her head in his lap, stretched out on the floor. He had a syringe lodged beneath her skin.

“Will she be all right?”

“Sure,” said Harper absently. “Ah – executive!” he cried, when he realized who had addressed him. For a moment Dr. Harper had thought she had come by to chastise him for interrupting a fight. He was glad she hadn’t. After all, his jumping into the ring had nothing to do with the outcome – Harper was just saving the Institute a few million dollars. And plucking Vesper from the precipice of death. “Yes, Alex, the Gengar will be fine. Wouldn’t you?” He shook his head and hoped she heard his sarcasm.“Just… don’t touch her.”

He left the girl and tentatively approached Marcus. He was burned terribly. Dr. Harper chided himself. He never got it quite… right. The genomes would never mix perfectly. These people had started out as humans; they would be humans forever – humans were never meant to breathe fire or lay curses or battle till they fainted. The Doctor reached into his bag and drew out a cold compress, and twisted it till it popped. The icy cold soon permeated through the plastic and he placed it on the ground at Marcus’ feet, then paced back to where Vesper lay and the Rocket Executive stood, her expression blank.

He caught the eyes of that Russian, Vostok. So calculating. It disgusted the Doctor.

“Don't worry, the Rocket Science Emergency Maintenance Procedure is swift, painless, and completely permanent, so you'll never have to do it, again!" Harper bit his lip. The Metang worried him. Not his best work.

He wasn’t even allowed to do his job. Dr. Harper would have had all the morphs in his office for treatment in an instant, but it was explicitly forbidden except under very special circumstances, like when he had amputated Vesper’s leg. It still plagued him, the thought of how hard he had to fight for her life, how hard he had to fight for his job. The Rocket bureaucracy was an Arena in itself.

He could not heal them. Part of the training, the other Rockets said. If the morphs died, they obviously weren’t strong enough and didn’t need to be saved. So the Doctor only hoped, feeling worthless. They endured so much torment. So much pain. And he had all the power to fix it, but he didn’t. Because he wasn’t “allowed.” Well, he also wasn’t “allowed” to intervene in the fights.

“It must be nice to have ice in your veins,” said Dr. Harper to the Executive, gaze lowered over the Gengar morph.

Rocket Executive Alexandra

“Sure,” He didn't seem quite aware who was addressing. He glanced up at her and jumped slightly. “Ah – executive!” Clearly startled. After pausing a moment to recollect his wits, he answered. “Yes, Alex, the Gengar will be fine. Wouldn’t you?” The sarcastic note in his voice slightly annoyed Alex, but he had a point. This wasn't right. That little doubt again. She shoved it to the back of her mind. “Just… don’t touch her.”

"I wasn't planning on it," Alex answered calmly. She paused. "Thank you, Doctor," she said, a bit softer. She wasn't really sure why she said it, only that it seemed appropriate. She scanned the cage, pointedly ignoring the Charizard morph. They both hated each other. Good. That meant they also understood each other.

"Oh, Ja-son! It seems you've developed a slight malfunction, and will have to undergo the Rocket Science Emergency Maintenance Procedure! Don't worry, the Rocket Science Emergency Maintenance Procedure is swift, painless, and completely permanent, so you'll never have to do it, again!"

Alex turned to look at the Metang. Yes, she could see why they said he was mentally unstable. Also, he was probably dangerous- well, in a crazy sense. Not in the regular sense. All the morphs were dangerous.

“It must be nice to have ice in your veins.”

It took a moment for Alex to realize the doctor was addressing her. She turned his statement over in her mind for a moment. Ice in her veins.... Well, that was what it seemed like, didn't it? That was the illusion she tried to create, and the one she had tried to make real. "It does have it's uses," She finally said. "But perhaps it also has it's downfalls."

She should go. No business hanging around the Morph's cages. "So long, doctor. And..." She paused again, slow, contemplating her words. "Good luck." She turned and exited, not waiting for Dr. Harper's response.

Personally, Alex, hated the fights. Uncivilized, rough, crude, especially as entertainment. Then again, what was the difference between this and Pokemon fights? And it was her duty as executive to see who did well and who did not. She paced over to the sidelines. After a moment she realized she was standing next a fellow Executive, Vostok. The man looked much older than she, but she knew for a fact they were close in age. She made it her business to know. She didn't address him. Getting in a one-on-one conversation with Vostok would drive her batty.

The Arcanine Marcus

Dr. Harper approached Marcus slowly. Marcus silently watched as the man pulled out a cold compress, twisted it until it popped, then placed it at his feet. The cold seemed to reach up and numbed the burning pain. Marcus felt himself relax slightly. He silently thanked the doctor. He wondered if the burns would ever heal fully. He hoped so.

Marcus winced inwardly and turned to look at Jason. "Good luck," he muttered. There wasn't much to say. Marcus didn't feel like talking. Breath came slow and labored, and talking made it worse.

Rocket Executive Vostok

"Metang versus Flareon."

He saw the Metang morph prance out into the battlefield. No sign of the Flareon, however. Perhaps a coward? There was no room for cowards here...

The Metang spun in the direction of the Flareon, then proceeded to taunt him.

Vostok felt a wave of amusement flow through is body, though he didn't smile or adjust his eyes in anyway, his face still in that stone cold glare. Suddenly, Warubiaru moved slightly, as if to let someone through. Turning his head, he saw Alex.

Well, he had to look down, of course.

"Hello, Executive Alex." He said in a deep tone, his eyes not exactly looking straight at her, as if focusing on the fellow Rocket and on the battle. "Enjoying the Arena?" The pale man asked.

Rocket Executive Alexandra

"Hello, Executive Alex. Enjoying the Arena?" Vostok barely looked at her, eyes focused on that Metang. If Alex had not seen his lips move and knew what his voice sounded like, she would not have thought he had spoke. Well, then, if that's the way he wants to play.

"It is well enough." Alex kept her voice a flat, emotionless monotone. "And you, Vostok?" It was impossible to tell whether she was being sarcastic or not. She would not let the other executive know her true thoughts of the arena. It could easily turn against her, especially since it was Vostok. He was intelligent, tricky. Alex had sort of a grudging respect for the man, whatever she thought about his personality. She doubted he thought the same way about her, though. Well, then, he was underestimating her. That was always good. She could surprise him...

In her mind, Alex was analyzing the fight, who could most likely win. The Flareon definitely had the edge simply because, but something about the Metang made her uneasy. Also, he seemed to be able to use a magnet of some sort. That might give him some advantage. Where was that Flareon, anyway?

The Rocket Surgeon Dr. James Harper

Harper crouched on the cage floor, stroking the Gengar's hair. An executive eyed him warily. The doctor warded him off with a glare. "Where's Jason?" he muttered. The boy was always so nervous.

The loudspeaker encompassed the domed Arena with its sound. "Charizard versus Zoroark."

"Charizard vs. Zoroark." The loudspeaker's whine made Alex jump a bit.

Why were they switching the fight up? She puzzled faintly over it. No matter. There was some reason, she was sure, though she couldn't fathom what. No type advantage on either side, she didn't think (though it wouldn't spring to mind readily), but the Charizard could fly. And that Zoroark was smart. Tricky, that one... She hoped the Zoroark won, though she knew it was petty. She couldn't help it- she hated that Charizard.

Matthias the Zoroark

Matthias calmly entered the arena. It was his turn to battle, and his opponent would have a slight advantage, being able to fly. However, Matthias had several tricks up his sleeve. he knew how he would proceed. His main task was to rob his opponent of his one advantage: flight. That, mixed with some psychological warfare mixed in with his known attacks would give him the advantage. If there was one thing he was good at back when he was a coordinator, it was controlling the flow of battle. He waited patiently in the arena. He knew he needed to win: he wouldn't be in shape to make his plan work if he was unconscious or severely injured.
