HeartGold and SoulSilver differences just pertrains to certain Pokemon that are only available in one version, though there are some tiny
storyline differences too.

The exclusive Pokemon for HG are: Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe, Arcanine, Omanyte, Omastar, Spinarak, Ariados, Gligar, Mantine, Phanpy, Donphan, Sableye, Baltoy, Claydol, Latias, Kyogre, Mantyke, and Gliscor.

And in SS: Meowth, Persian, Vulpix, Ninetales, Kabuto, Kabutops, Ledyba, Ledian, Delibird, Skarmory, Teddiursa, Ursaring, Mawile, Gulpin, Swalot, Latios, and Groudon.

So it's up to for you to decide.

Qft

It all depends on personal preference, but mainly Ho-oh or Lugia.

It actually doesn't as you get Ho-oh and Lugia in both games but in SS you get Lugia first and Ho-oh last and the opposite way in HG.

It's all about what color you prefer pretty much. If you like the color Silver, get SS, if you prefer Gold, get HG

from someone who has both HG/SS its really up to you which version to get..as you can always find someone on pe2k who has the opposite version to trade to..

But I do want to give 2 more cents on the matter.. No disrespect to anyone or group of people. but If you hold out just a few months you may very well be able to get a brand new version of pokemon that will without a doubt change how the world sees and plays pokemon .. If i didnt have HG/SS I'd wait till B/W arrive. thats just me.

I'd say go with SoulSilver, as it has Latios and Groudon. I personally think Latios wins over Latias any day, and I just like Groudon more than Kyogre. That's the main difference. Keep in mind, you can get Ho-oh and Lugia in BOTH games.

When will you two learn that there is currently an event where yo can somehow get Latios in Hg and Latias in Ss?

And it really depends on what Pokemon you like best. Hg has more Exclusive Pokemon, but Ss has more kickass Pokemon, like Arcanine and Ninetails and Skarmory. Ss, however, does not have any Sinnoh Exclusives.
Let me ask you one thing, What legend do you like better? Ho-Oh or Lugia? Will you beat the E4? If the E4 question is yes, and Lugia is the answer, I would go with Hg. You wouldn't need to train your Lugia much once you got it, but it would take longer to get it, because you get his wing from some dude in Kanto. If it is Ho-Oh you like, you should get Ss. Unless you like training your Pokemon, you should get the other game. You decide, in the end.

The Latios/Latias event is over, so you can no longer legitimately get both in your game.

How is that possible? I'd be curious to hear how you can do that.

lol... why would being able to get either latios or latias count for anything if the event is over and you can not longer legitly get them?

Oh, and it was my impression that arcanine is a HG pokemon, not a SS pokemon. You mentioned earlier that SS gets ninetails, arcanine, and skarmory but im pretty sure that Arcanine is HG.

As for the OP, just look at the list in post 2 and decide which pokemon sound more appealing to you.
