Depends entirely on the rest of your team, are you after something offensive or defensive?

Gyarados has worked great for me defensively.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature(+Atk, -Satk)
252 Atk, 252 spd, 4 HP
-Dragon Dance
-Taunt
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge

Provided you can get D. dance up, this is a force to be reckoned with. Does pretty well in-game too.

If a Pokemon that knows (and uses) the move Transform is holding a Choice Scarf, what happens after the Transformation?

Will it Stuggle, due to not having the move anymore, or will it be allowed to choose one more move from the transformations moveset, and use it?

Choice Band, Choice Scarf, and Choice Specs keep their boost upon Transforming. The Transforming Pokemon is allowed to select a new move.

Hope that helps. =D

It does, and thanks. I have been considering trying to run either Ditto or Smeargle with Scarf and seeing what happens with it with the Transformation. It might fail, but it'll be fun to playtest, I'm sure.

Bought a Platinum version a little bit ago, and I'm at the point where I have to catch/beat Giratina. I've been SRing for about 2 hours now, looking for a shiny one, when it dawned on me.

Can Giratina become shiny by SRing in front of it? Or is the data for it set before/after you beat Cyrus?

For that matter, what of the other legendaries in this game? ie- Lake Trio, Cresselia, etc.
I also have the movie Regigigas, so I was wondering if I could just SR in front of each of them and try for it.

Sorry, not used to actually *trying* for a shiny.

there should be no SR difference for legendaries. I havent tried so i wouldnt know out of experience but i read an answer to a similar question and there should be no difference.
