Odd Status Condition.

Someone I know got a used Emerald game, and form the Pokemon they found on the game, one of them (a Pigdeotto) had a status condition called PKRS. They took the Pidgeotto to Nurse Joy, and Nurse Joy said that it had PokeRus, saying that it's a rare condition (I think) and it helps the growth of the Pokemon.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit more detail on that.

It helps by making your Pokemon that´s infected with it gain double the experience points than before. And it also doubles the amount of EVs a Pokemon takes in. But the virus won´t last forever so use it well.

I think that it is possible to "save" the Pokerus by keeping the infected Pokemon in the box (helps you to infect Pokemon you're raising by putting it in the same party). Also, it only doubles the Effort Values gained from battle and not EXP. Once the Pokerus is gone, the Pokemon cannot get it again.

Ah, OK. What are EVs, if I may ask? The person who got the game wanted me to find out more about all this. ^^ If you make it hold, say, Exp. Share, will ain triple the amount?

And, how long exactly does it last? Or does it just vary with each time it pops up?

The game, by the way, has had major cheats used on it (by the person who owned it before). ^^ It's so cool. So many shinies (including Lugia and Celebi). They're lettig me have the non-shiny Lugia, too. ^^

EVs (a.k.a Effort Values), are a very important part of training any Competitive Pokemon. But I wouldn´t really worry about it since battling competitively is used for Wi-Fi Battles which is avaible in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. To be honest, I don´t really know how long it lasts since I have never had it before on any of my Pokemon. So... I´m just taking a wild guess and saying that it lasts for about a couple of days.

Basically, they increase stats. Having the Macho Brace equipped doubles your EV point gain, and having Pokerus also doubles the EV gain (combined they are 4x).

No idea. My friend just found one of the Pokemon that came with his game with it. They just wanted to know what it was in fuller detail.

So, it ups EV stuff, and it lasts for only a couple of days. GOtcha.

Absolutely randomly. I believe it's caught by random wild Pokemon. If you go into a PKMN Center and talk to the nurse with a Pokemon that has the Pokerus, she'll mention that one of your Pokemon has it, but only once. Oh, and Entei, you had said "If you make it hold, say, Exp. Share, will ain triple the amount?" A Pokemon with the Pokerus holding and Exp. Share will get the normal amount of experience when using it.
