its a decent team but the gyrados and pelliper are both flying/water this could pose a problem in a fight you are having personaly i would keep gyrados and go get a bagon and use the pelliper to fly around hope this helped you

Shiny pokémon are basically normal pokémon with an alternate coloration. Other than their colour, there is nothing different about them (as in, they're not stronger or anything). There really aren't any tips on how to find a Shiny pokémon; you just have to get lucky. You could be lucky and find one on your first try, or you could be unlucky and never encounter one in your entire life. Personally, I've only seen around 4-5 shiny pokémon (I saw a Red Gyarados before, but not the one at the Lake of Rage in GSC). According to Bulbapedia, the chances of seeing a shiny pokémon are 1/8192.

And about your team, any team will work in-game, really. Just make sure they are at a high enough level and that their movesets aren't redundant.

Just choose pokemon that you like and it's a perfect in-game team. the E4 in R/S/E is really easy so you've got no problem

There are a lot of factors that determine the ratio of pokemon appearances. Most of this is easily solved by location, and then by the rarity of the pokemon itself. For example, the chance of finding sa Tentacool in any body of water is incredibly high, since they are common pokemon. However, the chance of finding a Bagon, a pokemon worth the long wait for Salamence, can only be found on the lowest level of Meteor falls, and Zubat's are still the predominant pokemon, as in any cave.

Hope that helps. For exact ratios, go to the Bulbagardens page on any specific pokemon you're looking for. Good luck with your game!
