I agree that the alignment system sucked, only giving you access to alternate things to say (although I admit it is awesome to shove that one guy against the wall). It was also kind of lame in KotOR. No, what I liked was Fable's good vs. Evil system, where it actually has quite a few visual effects, or Black and White's where it changes your hand, your creature, and my personal favorite, your city. What I mainly look for in a game is an interesting storyline, which ME had, excellent graphics, which ME had, and a good leveling system, which ME kinda had (the mini black hole thing was cool, and Sabotage was useful dealing with Geth, but other than that, not so awesome). So ME's my kind of RPG. Though Fallout 2, so much cooler.

No, here's what I want to see in an RPG. I want to see all of the above, plus excellent special abilities, an alignment system that actively affects gameplay, and like, a dozen endings to the main storyline, which is not required to follow because it is a sandbox game, each influenced by your alignment and multiple decisions made throughout the entire game. And I'll get right on that. I'm a game designer. It's what I do.

It's a Time Crisis-style duck and cover lightgun game, except the enemies rush at you so you have to move around a lot. It plays so much like a shooter in every aspect, and the "roleplaying" is so scarce and inconsequential, it's hard to even call it an RPG.

GOTY Nominee. That says it all, so I'm not complaining.

Was Oblivion a GOTY Nominee? NO.

While there were some issues with Mass Effect, calling it a bad game would mean that you earn the following:

I agree that you cannot call Mass Effect a bad game.

I'm not saying it's bad, but, it's not as good as Bioware's other games.

NWN > ME

Yeah, that's fair. I liked KOTOR a bit better, in a way, but there's something about ME that I just loved.

My friend said NWN was fun, so I said why not, and it turned out to be far too text based when it came to story advancement. It was kinda enjoyable, but it felt like an offline version of World of Warcraft or something (Yeah, I tried that too, for a few days).

I tried Mass Effect, not knowing what to expect and I really turned out liking it. Though there were times were I just had to give up and stop playing for a while due to it's saving system, but that's just cause I kinda sucked. :P

Though I must say, KotOR 1 blows them both out of the water.

From who? Oblivion won a lot of awards from various publications, including Game of the Year.

I don't expect everyone (or anyone, to be frank) to agree with mey view, and I don't expect anyone to change their mind about the game, but I did expect a little more respect for my opinion than that.

That said, I do think it is a bad game. Good thing I like cats and cheese, then.

I'm not sure what this means; did you go into an RPG not expecting text? I've also played World of Warcraft and Neverwinter Nights and I'm not sure where the comparison lies there, either.

Lastly, I've only played the PC version of Mass Effect, in which you can save anywhere except elevators; how does the Xbox 360 version handle it?

Of course I expected text, but when I have to squint to read it and don't understand half of it, I give up.

Pretty much the same way. It throws me off though cause I'm used to checkpoints coming up a lot sooner though.

Personally I disagree with you. I do believe that it's a good game but everyone, zuddy included, is entitled to his own opinion. Also, Titan, the reason that Oblivion isn't up for GOTY this year is because it is not a game from this year, it was a few years ago, 2006 if I'm right though it could be older. But as zuddy said Oblivion has earned several awards including GOTY, and I do agree, it is a superior game (then again, I'm a fantasy junky more than I am a sci-fi junky so that may have something to do with it. Or I could just like games that don't pretend to have an actual alignment system and instead just tells you to do whatever the hell you want).
