Some games you don't use the touch screen to move at all and the directional pad is the only choice. o_O

Really, it doesn't matter. The instructional manual will tell whatever you need to know about that particular game. Once again, it all depends on the game. D/P don't use it much, LoZ does... it just depends. I hope this answers your questions.
