Psychic or Fighting

Which type of pokemon should I choose to train in blue version, psychic or fighting in the last slot? I've decided on Squirtle, Doduo, Vulpix, Magnemite, and Geodude.

Seriously, Psychic type was so overpowered in RBY.

It's only weak to the bug type who had horrible attacking moves, has a ghost immunity, and every Psychic (except maybe Mr. Mime) could do one job and do it well.

So, Mr. Mime wouldn't be a very good pokemon to train? Because I was leaning towards Mr. Mime. Or would a Staryu or a Slowpoke be better?

Alakazam and Starmie are the best. Hypno and Slowbro can do alright as well.

I prefer Fighting in RBY and Psycichs were weak to Ghosts as well as bug, there just werent many Ghost attacks

IIRC Psychics only became weak to ghost in GSC.

This is for RBY, where Psychic's only weakness was bug. You also have to consider the Pokemon themselves, not just what it hits for SE and what resists it. In RBY, Psychic Pokemon > Fighting Pokemon.

It's also worth noting that the dark type was almost specifically created to try and balance out Psychic types.

Steel type was half created for that reason as well.

Anyways, fighting has the himon bothers... Which are the only good fighting Pokemon apart from Machamp in my book. I'm not talking about stats, just general faves and hates.

Pshychic... Mewtwo, Mew... The type that dominated R/B/Y, Alakazam, Espeon... It's a no-brainer, really.
