Default Bonus Items

two years ago Figgy started to try and put Holding Items into the battling system but having the winner of the first forum tournament recieve one (but the tourney never finished)

ex. Pink Bow, Nevermelt Ice, etc.

the Holding Items that power up specific types, not Quick Claw.
what does it do during battle? it raises that specific attack type by 10%
ex. Pink Bow will raise Normal Attacks by 10%, making Tackle do 44 rather than 40. Hyper Beam does 165 instead of 150.

how would these items be counted for battles? they would be counted as an Item. normally all the battles right now are no items; 1 item allows the use of these Holding Items (or other items currently in the Pokemart)

no poll. i want this to be a good discussion where i base the decision off what you guys think/say.

Eh, I'm not really for it. For one thing, it's extra stats that refs have to take the time out to calculate each time an attack of the like is used. That's going to make reffing take a little bit longer.

Plus, 50% may not sound like a lot for little attacks, but consider a Pidgeot's Hyber Beam when it wears a Pink Bow with the STAB added to the attack. Needless to say, it's usually going to be an instant kill. And that's not even looking at a super effective perspective. That's pretty much why I'm guessing they only make it worth 10% in the games.

It's an interesting idea, but I'm not so sure. For a start, I've never seen a battle (other than an Elite battle) which allowed the use of items. Also as Neo and Firestorm pointed out, 50% is way too high for an item attack boost.

Even if hold items were allowed, would it really be fair to only give them to the winners of tournaments? That would mean that only a very small number of people could benefit. Plus looking back on previous attempts at starting tournaments, they haven't exactly gone very well.

Slaking with Pink Bow firing a Hyper Beam... Sccarrry.

This idea is kinda bleh, it can get abusive, besides it's just more work(Though not a lot). Only way it'll work if it was reduced to 10% like the above people have said.

I'd restate what everyone above has said, but you can look up.

How should it be counted? You could always say "1v1 GSC Holding Item" or whatever, unless the item part has to be number-based. I mean, that'd prevent someone else getting a Full Restore edged in because their opponent has Pink Bow. x_x;

Well, I would say no. If one (hold)item would be allowed, I'd rather have something else than a type-booster. As the people above said more than 10% would be absurd, but then I think 10% won't help a lot.

That's the point, it should be a small advantage that only some people can use. It's slightly noticeable, it's good for long-term battles with high-attack and high-stats pokémon. It would help in a battle, I'm sure about it.
I'm up to it, but I would like it if, for example, the Pokémon ALWAYS held it,
not limited to Item Battles. ALWAYS, and as a prize of a tournament.
Limited to one held-item per trainer.

Well, you may be right, though I'm still not convinced. But only way to find out is to try, so yeah ... why not.
