Default Cloning items? I think I found a way!

I know there isn't a glitch is Ru/Sa like in Emerald, but I just thought of this: (Using Ru/Sa)
Supposidly, if you and your friend mix records, you will find them in their base in your game, and you can ask them to battle and they will use the pokemon they had while you mixed records, also, I'm pretty sure the items they were holding during mixing records go along too. So if you were to battle them, and you used an item stealing move you would recieve the item. Now instead, you could trade them a pokemon holding a rare candy for example, you mix records and trade back. Then everyday, you'd be able to get a rare candy. I have not tried this yet. But in theory, would this work? I'm going to try this today.
EDIT: I did try it, and it does work!
I know it isn't like cloning in Emerald, but I have yet to try with a masterball over many days, but when I get my masterball on my Sapphire I will try :)
Also, since this isn't exactly a glitch, it shouldn't mess up your game :D

That's great! And it's not even really a glitch!

:D I figured it out when I was mixing records with a friend. Has anyone else tried it? Because I wonder, would you be able to get it again, or is it lost until you mix records again...

I once tried doing this, but then my cousin remembered he gave one of his Pokemon a Masterball, and he took it back...
On Emerald, You can clone the Pokemon and the Item.
Thats how I get tons of Heart Scales.

The move to use is thief. It is TM 46 on Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Do you get to keep the item that you took in a real pokemon battle for yourself or is it just for the rest of the battle?

I'm pretty sure you keep it, I know my Linoone stole an item with Covet from a Bagon, it was a Dragonscale and I got to keep it, but it just slipped my mind if the item stays with you or not... I'll have to wait until tomorrow to try once more.

I'll be testing this as soon as possible (and also for DP, no more getting 80 BP for EQ being a worry for me!), it's a great sort of glitch (I suppose it counts as a glitch as the game designers didn't intend it).

P.S. To hbmacho, I don't know if it was intentional but saying "not even I" sounded like you're up yourself.

I tried this, way back when, when Emerald first came out. You DO steal the item, but it only lasts until the end of the battle. It isn't permanent. Just like in the Battle Frontier. It's a shame.
