Nope, If oyu save right before you get it you should be fine. You have a 12.5% chance of getting it.

I managed to start off with a female Cyndaquil on my first try in Crystal.

All my other starters have been male, though. My brother has a female Mudkip. I'm not sure what the odds are, but you'll just have to keep trying. Good luck.

Breeeding purposes if you don't have a Ditto or preferance.

The chances for a female starter is 12.5%.

Everytime I restart my Leaf Green and I want a female Squirtle, I get it on my first try. :P

do you have to divide the 12.5 by 3(#of starters), because i've done the calculations and i should have had it by my 8th try and it's like my 17th

No, it's 12.5% for a ll starter. You will always have a 12.5% on the starter you want.
