I would ask for an Abra to start off with.

As for my team, I would catch a Scyther, Eevee, Poliwag, Rhyhorn, Growlithe. Then when I move out from Kanto to Johto, I would keep Kadabra, Eevee and Poliwhirl in my party and capture Herracross, Magby, Larvitar.

I would start in Kanto and advance into Johto.
