Grandpa Rests And Never Dies

Time to rest now, dear Grandpa, time to let go.
We're with you to the very end, just so you know.
Though you don't remember who we are, we know you.
And once upon a time, you knew us too.

You fought in the war.
As you got older, every day was just one more.
You deserve the break, the time off.
Take your time; we'll meet again someday.

You were there since the day we were born.
Always our father and grandfather, with your heart so warm.
Thank you for all the good times we had, all the laughs.
The time for fun and games is over now, it's gone and passed.

We won't say goodbye, instead, see you later.
We'll meet you up there someday, just patiently waiting.
You'll be ready to greet us, arms open wide.
Or you'll get us good and take our food, while our eyes are to the side.

You'll make a joke and make us laugh, call us a name that isn't ours.
You're the one who could get us up and running, cheerful, hours upon hours.
But when the time comes for you to go, you know that you'll be missed.
You touched each and every one of us, daughter, son, grandchildren and family.

You can close your eyes now, Grandpa, lie down to rest.
I just hope you know that you're the absolute best.
Never forgotten, never out of heart.
Thanks for being there in our lives, thanks for playing the part...

You can rest now, never forget this: we all love you dearly and you will be greatly missed.
