In all honesty, is sounds closer to me as "mrow" as an onomatopoeia, so I chose the first one because it sounds closest to my ears, but, as has been said, the word itself is less of an onomatopoeia as it is a name for the word. After all, roosters don't say "cockadoodleddoo," they just make a loud noise to that rhythm.
