Default Re: [WAR X] WAR Season X Rules and Info

ENTRY AND PERFORMANCE SUBMISSION PERIODS

Members who are on an official WAR X Team are allowed to take part in as many WAR sections as they like. Note that while some sections like the WAR X Role Play and WAR X Debate have no real limit on how much a member can take part, some sections, such as WAR X Graphic Art and WAR X Creative Writing will only allow a participant to submit a single entry for the week. Each individual section will have its own rules. make sure you comply with them, or your entry and performance may be disqualified.

Participants have a total of five days to continue their performance and complete their entries and submit them from Monday to Friday. Saturday serves as “last minute” submission period that participants can use submit their entries as long as the section hasn’t been judged yet. However, if the section is judged, submissions close for that week. Participants are also free to begin working on their entries or performance as soon as the WAR Judge announces the new theme for the week, but these are the official participant entry submission periods:

MONDAY 12:00:00 AM EST – FRIDAY 11:59:99 PM EST: Participants are free to submit entries or contribute to that section’s activities at any time during this period.
SATURDAY 12:00:00 AM EST – SATURDAY 11:59:99 PM EST: Participants are free to submit entries or contribute to that section’s activities if the section hasn’t been judged yet (last minute submissions). However, if the section has already been judged, all entries and performance stats for that week are closed and locked.

JUDGES AND JUDGING PERIODS

Without a doubt, the success of the WAR greatly depends on WAR Judges. Anyone is welcome to become a WAR Judge and will be rewarded for it with team points for their work and for giving up the opportunity to take part in the section themselves. However, I do ask that if you decide to become a Judge, please respect the position and do what is asked of you. WAR Judges are responsible for running the section, monitoring the section’s activities, and judging the entries and performance of the participants that take part. WAR Judges also have the freedom to decide what weekly themes are going to be used for that week. In the case of the WAR Role Play Judge, you have the right and the privilege to have complete control over the WAR RP’s storyline, though there will be a WAR RP Discussion Thread that you can use to work with members and get feedback from as you develop the storyline.

There are two types of WAR Judges: Normal Section Judges, who have control over one of the sections, and Backup Judges, who can judge and grade entries from any section that hasn’t been judged during the normal judging period. A WAR Judge can be a Normal Judge and a Backup Judge at the same time, so you can apply to be one or the other or both if you desire.

To become a Judge, there will be a thread for WAR Judge sign ups. All that we ask is that you have at least some knowledge and experience in the section(s) you’re applying for. As part of the application, you may need to describe why you are qualified for the position and what skills you have that relate to it, what WARs you may have judged in the past (if any), and how you would handle the section. To be a Backup Judge, you should have some evidence of showing you were in a previous WAR and know how it works.

As payment and reward for judging on time (and because the WAR Judge can’t take part in their own section for their own team, except in the case of URPG), WAR Judges earn 1 point each week they successfully and adequately judge their section for a total of 5 points. If a WAR Judge does not perform their duty on time or at all, they lose their point reward. These point rewards can be claimed by Backup Judges, who have the privilege to decide who in that section made the best entries (or demonstrated the best performance), and can issue the theme for the next week (if it is necessary, such as in the case of graphic art), provided it follows a similar pattern as the original WAR Judge’s format. Judges need to post the results in both the section’s thread and in the WAR Scoreboard Thread, and need to make a new theme (when necessary) sometime between Saturday and Sunday.

The official time period for judging each week is as follows:

SATURDAY 12:00:00 AM EST – SUNDAY 11:59:99 PM EST: WAR Judges must complete their judging of the entries and provide a new theme (if the section calls for it) for the upcoming week within this time period. If they do not complete it before Monday 12:00:00 AM EST, they lose their judging reward point, even if they return to judge and provide a theme for the next week before a Backup Judge claims it. Also, in the event a Backup Judge has graded a section and provided a new theme for the week, a normal section judge cannot overrule the theme provided by a Backup Judge that judged their section because the judge didn’t grade their entries on time.

WAR Season X officially opens on June 19th, 2011. Section threads should be prepared and be ready on or before this date.

This is the roster of official WAR Teams that have been approved by a WAR Leader. Links and a short description follow:

Villainous Incorporated: League of Evil
Team Description: We are Villainous Incorporated: League of Evil, the greatest bunch of no-gooders around. More commonly known as VILE, we were created in 1976 with the joint goal of complete world domination. I, Capto Laryngitis, my equally evil co-villain, and mascot Grizsnal the bear are now recruiting for more members in our quest to rule the planet. We aim to force everyone into VILE, and if we face any resistance, we will beat them into submission with our fists. However, we hope it doesn't come to this and they'll give up with no resistance at all. How will we do this? We're going to start small. Recruiting people on a small internet forum, before slowly building up; robbing banks, threatening major world powers, infiltrate secret military bases. This will give us the required information we need to build WMD's – Weapons of Mass Destruction! Our final step? Use these to brainwash the people into giving in to the future world powers – us!
