If you be gentle and know how to use a soldering iron (to some extent) the game shouldn't be damaged. If you are younger or have had no experience then I would get someone experienced to supervise.
Bear in mind you are doing this to cartridges that don't save and so for the most part are useless at this point so there isn't much else to go but up.
